Zipper Bowl by Lilach Lotan

I think, there's a huge different between people who has good skill in making ceramic with people who skilled to designed. Obviously Lilach Lotan can do both.
All of her works are so cleverly designed with great ceramic skill, that's for sure.

Artist Statement:
"While designing a particular piece, I try to erase from my mind all that has been done in that field, and start from the beginning. That way I come up with a completely new, fresh and contemporary design.
At the heart of my design lies an idea, conveyed by shape, form and contour; without the distraction of colours. The only shade being considered is that produced by the object itself: Achromatic shades of light, and its absence. The contour reveals itself by the presence and absence of material, both of equal importance."

Look at her puzzle piece, one piece that made me puzzled.

Witches Kitchen from Artecnica

End of June, but I can't wait to post these "creepy" kitchenware until Halloween.
The whole series are so cleverly crafted especially the wooden kitchen utensils which completed the whole creepiness.

"An Artecnica Design with Conscience™ project, Witches’ Kitchen™ is a handcrafted kitchenware collection inspired by the witches and wizards of western lore. The extensive collection is a collaborative exercise in sustainable design. Designed by Studio Tord Boontje and handcrafted by artisan groups from three different South American countries, Witches’ Kitchen features black ceramic cookware hand-molded by Colombian artisans, wooden kitchen utensils handcarved by Guatemalan craftsmen, and kitchen couture hand-sewn by Brazil’s Coopa-Roca women’s cooperative."

For what it caused, they are not so creepy after all.

Ayumi Horie Dry Throwing

Sometimes I can be very reluctant to put my hands into water. Maybe because I'm a Leo?

So just like a cat, I never like cold water and especially when the water gets very muddy from clay. I wiped them dry almost immediately, then start over with plunge again to the bucket full of mud, wiped dry again. My throwing process is much slower compare to others, you know why.
I wonder what the hell am I doing with throwing ceramics anyway?

Thank's to Ayumi, I found this dry throwing is brilliant for a "dry-hand freak" like me. How fun!
I danced to the music too!

(The Pug: "MA! I'm on TV with clay on my head!!")

fire-hydrant

fire-hydrant, originally uploaded by Heldegard.

This time I decided to make something small... yeah right. Like that's actually a new news. I haven't make anything larger than 15" in solid piece. Well... not ever actually. Maybe I should start claiming myself micro art....
Naaaahhh...

Anyway, I started making series of a small habitat. Simple in white clay but enhanced with gold luster.
It is going to be a fun project. More pictures coming up... check it out hopefully soon.

PS: Lars was patting the dog, too cute!... but he needs to trim his nail. :D
