Tree House, Part 2
I gave more clay support to the inner main tube, extra long beach clay to support the main branches. Click on the link to see what clay I'm actually using.
I start liking it...
Tree House, part 1
Start building tree house mid June, 2010. The main tree split half as it was hollow and the clay was too wet (was previously used for throwing) to support the whole branches, too heavy.
Then I decided to wrap with cloth to support....
Rambutan
Wheel thrown and hand build the "hair" individually.
Hand painted with underglazed red for the mushroom.
And glazed with low fire transparent and aqua mist

Designing ceramic with shellac
Simple 10 steps, even 5 years old can do this:
1. For start, use bone dry, trimmed (bowl).
2. Start decorating with shellac, just imagine that the shellac will "protect" your design.
3. Best to let it dry for 24 hours.
4. Once dry, use damp sponge start wiping down the un-shellac area until the surface of the shellac area "lift of". Do it gently.
5. You can put another second design with shellac or..
6. Start with finishing touch using black Slip or underglaze color.
7. Wipe off the excess slip/ underglaze.
8. Bisque.
9. Brush before glazing to remove some residue from shellac.
10. Glaze.
piece a cake! (until the glaze ruining everything..hahaha)

Cinderella
I can even fell in love with her. I really can.
I already did actually.
Isn't she looks like Michelle Williams?
Kate MacDowell
WOW!! Unbelievable! Speechless... That's how i felt right now after saw her piece from the magazine. I wonder how long it takes her to finish her stuff... and plus how many times she breaks her pieces...
Seriously... how she did them so clean? I didn't even see any slip mark or anything...
I'm jealous and yet overjoyed.

pretty bowl
I LOVE IT!
I left the ornaments unglazed, i love the result.. like positive and negative. Polished and rough, ying and yang, man and woman, day and night...ok I should stop.
But then, it got me thinking... am I that boring though?
ugly bowl
Let's make it extreme. I HATE THIS BOWL! hahaha...
Took me so long to made this piece from detailing, underglazing, glazing, another low fire and even gold luster. So total of 4 firing.. and turned out like this...MEH! MEH! MEH!
BUT...
It turns out that somebody bought this piece the first day we had sale!! AMAZING!! I guess "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is true!!
Sorry bowl... you're not so ugly after all. (from his side of view)
You deserved a nice family... kiss.

I hope both of you are happy with the gift.
And in case you are not, or not happy with the marriage (not that i'm wishing for it) but I'll be happy to adopt back. Please?

wedding gift
Dear my blog,
yeah... it's December, finally raining here in LA, and I just loved it every minute of it. I've been out all day playing in the rain, so now I'm at home felt like updating my blog which apparently happened not more than 5 times in a year... :D I'm sorry blog... i've been abandoned you.
But not to worry I still making ceramics whatever I can.. and getting more and more in love with it. (which probably why I've been neglecting you)
Some people said I should be serious about my ceramics, show them to some gallery, or selling them online or selling them on our studio.
Oh... I don't know really, felt like I just found my get away, without actually going away.
But perhaps one day, I will.

Staring at the sun
to the ones staring at the sun...
afraid of what you'll find if you took a look inside
not just deaf and dumb... staring at the sun
I'm not the only one who'd rather go blind
